IA²P membership is conferred — never purchased or applied for. It is a recognition of distinguished leadership and the capacity to shape the future of AI in your domain and beyond.
Each grade reflects the depth of contribution, career distinction, and mode of engagement available to members within the IA²P community.
IA²P's strength lies in its radical diversity of expertise. We do not limit membership to those already working in AI. A cardiologist, a Supreme Court judge, a central bank governor, or a climate scientist all have indispensable roles in shaping how AI will serve — or fail — their fields.
The association actively ensures balanced representation across industries and geographies, ensuring that no single sector or region dominates our collective voice.
Our admissions process is designed to be thorough, transparent, and worthy of the distinction it confers. Every nomination is reviewed with care, and every candidate is evaluated not just on their past achievements but on their potential to contribute to IA²P's global mission.
No. IA²P does not accept direct applications. Membership is conferred exclusively through nomination by an existing Fellow and approval by the Admissions Council. This model is foundational to IA²P's identity and is enshrined in the Constitution.
Absolutely not. IA²P was founded on the principle that domain expertise — whether or not it currently intersects with AI — is essential to shaping AI responsibly. A judge, physician, or policy architect who has never deployed an AI system may be among the most important voices we need.
The typical nomination-to-induction timeline is 60–120 days, depending on the completeness of the nomination dossier and the scheduling of the Admissions Council review cycle. Nominations are reviewed in two cycles per year.
Organisations may become Affiliate Members, enabling institutional collaboration and co-branding. Individual leadership from affiliated organisations may also be nominated for personal Fellowship. Affiliate membership does not confer voting rights.
Fellows (FIA²P) hold the highest grade, carry full voting rights, and are eligible for all leadership roles. Associate Fellows (AFIA²P) are distinguished professionals with a structured pathway to Fellowship, typically after 2–3 years of active contribution to IA²P programs.
IA²P does not apply rigid quotas but actively pursues geographic balance. The Admissions Council considers regional representation in each intake cycle to ensure the Fellowship genuinely reflects global leadership across all continents.
If you are an existing IA²P Fellow and wish to nominate a distinguished leader for membership, begin the process here. For enquiries about affiliation or partnership, use the same form.
Note
This form is for nominations submitted by current IA²P members. If you are not currently a member but believe you meet the eligibility criteria, please contact your regional chapter for guidance.
Nominations are reviewed in bi-annual cycles. You will be contacted by the Secretariat within 14 days of submission to confirm receipt and next steps.
